Dog Adoption

Adopting a dog means choosing the correct type of dog for you as the fist step. You will have to decide whether you want a dog that is large or small according to the space available to you. You may want an active companion that loves to go hiking or a gentle one that is contented to sit in your lap and be petted regularly. There are dogs with long fur that look cute or the smooth-coated ones that shed very little. Guardian dogs need to be stronger and more intelligent while toy dogs need to be cute and gentle and easily sociable.

In most cases they have a history of not being treated well or being ignored. All dogs need to learn how to act in our world, and your new dog will be no different. He will not know how you want him to behave, where he should go to the bathroom, what he can chew, who is friend or who is foe. These are things you will teach him, just like the rest of us learn it. Please be patient and give him a chance to show you what he can do. He wants desperately to please you. He just needs to learn how. It will take some time for him to be convinced that you are his forever family
Check the dog pound or shelter (Animal Control) that is usually operated by your city or county. Often times, you can find a real diamond-in-the-rough and the fees are generally low. City shelters often have limited resources and need to find homes for dogs quickly so they do not have to euthanize them. Purebred dogs are sometimes abandoned to the pound, but animal control is also full of loveable mutts.
